005 -- Cold, lonely and pissed off

Did anyone else notice that month just fly by? Really. Right on by and here's episode 5. DeAnna tells us about being cold in the wood and being cold in general, if you're interested in being cold like her, check out these survival programs. Sage Tyrtle of Quirky nomads reads an Anonymous This knitter's Life that brings tears to my eyes, especially. Finally, a sneak little peek at the uglier side of me and my happy holiday road rage.

Don't forget to call in or leave a comment with your guess at Boy Boggs' Nickel Pickle!

Also, and as usual, thanks to K.adventure and Boy Boggs for their musical prowess.

Hey, all the cool kids are participating, you should too! Don't you want to be on the show? got a novel idea? Have a fabulous, funny, or touching story (you know, the great one you pull out at really good dinner parties)? Got a good knitting story? Please! If you need help, just e-mail me! jacey (at) insubordiknit (dot.) com

Also, did you notice the knitter IDs? You should totally do one! There's three ways you can do it -- one is with the internal (or external for the fancy-pants among us) mic on your computer, either hit the button over there in the sidebar and record it via odeo, or record it yourself in Garageband or Audacity. Just send it to me as a .aif or .wav file. The third and easiest way is with any old telephone device, landline or cell-variety, call and leave a message at 206-339-9155.

Here's what I'm asking, roughly:

Name
city, state or country
age(or decade if you're not comfortable with the age)
job/
knitting/crocheting for ____ years
last/current project worked:

Come on, help a knitta out.

Episode 4, Eyeball Babies

Finally, after 18 months I come back and pretend that you’re still out there, I have a dream about being a 8 foot tall greek mythical creature with a love of French cuisine, Gina from sleepyeyesknits claims she’s no longer a craft addict (but we all know, once an addict, always an addict, right?), Boy Boggs gives you a nickel pickle (what and in what direction would a Giant throw, if attacking you in an art museum), Botany lays down the knitterly beat and makes sure everyone knows how to pronounce clapotis, and my mom takes me out in footie pajamas for shots. Yep, I’m back!

Thanks to Botany and The Spiked Marble for the music, and thanks to everyone who sent e-mails over the past 18 months asking me to come back!

Also, don't you want to be on the show? got a novel idea for a profile (who's that purl), wanna be interviewed, have a fabulous, funny, or touching story (this knitters life), read a great blog entry or just have something to say? Please, let me know!

newsbrief (now with extra news!)

hi everyone, jacey's partner here.

jacey went into the hospital friday for emergency surgery, hence her absence here in insubordiknitland. she's looking at another week or so of observation there, but is resting and improving daily, and already chomping at the bit to get back home with us to knit, spin, blog, podcast, and her usual much, much more.

edit on july 19th to add
Hey everyone! Look who's still living and breathing! ME! My surgury went well, I was in the hospital a little over a week because I lost quite a bit of blood and they couldn't get my blood pressure or my hemicrit levels up. Since, I have been on bedrest, not that that would usually stop me from knitting, spinning, blogging, and podcasting, but this bedrest has been strictly adhered to due to the pill-induced 24 hour dizziness and nausea. My dear mom came to help out 2 weeks and now that those salad day are over, I hope to be up and around soon and I'll tell the whole story. For now, thanks for the thoughts and well-wishes, I'm sorry I can't look at the screen long enough to reply to each person individually, all the kindness kept me out of the deepest pits of self-indulgent pity and depression.

Episode 3, fighting the power

Anne can't fight love, and her love can't fight good knitting. Jen fights for what she believes in and almost gets trampled in the process. Punk rock is all about fighting the power and breaking rules. Plus Brooklyn Michelle of the mosh knit is having a contest in which the yarn from inspirational spinning will be the prize. Also, Jodi Green talks about hockey nipple and satin shorts. And moms can be creative, ya hear?.

Oh, and thanks to Laura for the cookies!

Did you pick up on my hints? What exciting news do I have?

Did you meet an interesting knitter? Knit for the wrong person? Or just wanna say something to me? Call my voicemail 206-203-4211, don't be suprised if it gets on the show!

Also, don't you want to be on the show? It's easy! Really. Let me know and we'll make it work!

Episode 2, the good, the bad, and the ugly

The Second, later due to some technical difficulties. I'm still a nervous wreck, okay, maybe not a wreck, a fender bender, a nervous fender bender. What does ole Ronny R. have to do with yarn? and why can't Wendy stop buying yarn, even the cheap stuff? Botany brings us what's on my needles, how cool is that, how about some love? Therese is a much better person than I used to be, she went to Africa, I went to jail. Check out her website here) for details on how you can help with the former and for tamales sake, avoid the latter -- jail food stinks!

PS. tuesday 6:25pm, i just uploaded a corrected version of the podcast, correct URLs and instead of lots of technical errors, now there's only a few. if you downloaded earlier than this but haven't listened yet, you may want to download again.

Episode 1, false starts and nervous peeing

The first, be warned. I fumble and I even curse. I acknowledge that I'll never be brenda, sage, or even dave and gary. There's an interview with me, a bit on MSW by carrie, a story about a rug, and safety tips for those of you near bodies of water.

Oh, and there's not a what's on my needles, I said there would be but by the end of the episode, it just didn't happen. Stay tuned, next week for sure!

Sounds:
