How's the weather?

While you out there in blogland have been busy with the olympics, knitting and otherwise, we've been snowed in, sick, in the dark, and hudled together for warmth! Yep, we just can't shake the family sicks, not unlike the snow musta shook the power lines right out from under thousands of baltimorons. Did you know that if you don't have power, you also don't have heat? I didn't, but I found out quick when our mercury started to sink and our teeth started to chatter. Bah. I was all ready to update the shop and have it shiny and new when y'all woke up this fine winter morning, but alas, it's almost dinner time and well, better late than never, right? Some rockin cool yarns this week, a few new techniques for me as well.

I've been knitting too, though not in the olympic-style of so many others. I finally started my Patons Cabled hoodie and it's so freakin' cool! The cables are easy and fun and I think just simple enough for a first cable project. I worked for 3 evenings worth of Carnivale DVDs and got the back to done up to the armpits and the left front ribbing done.

Hey, did I mention that I turned 31 last week? Yep, I'm offically out of my 20s. And what did the best boy in the world get me? A brand new Prius! I walked out one morning and there it was in the driveway, right behind my barely-still-driving 1979 volvo with over 200,000 miles on it! It soooo rocks! It's a bit odd having a new car but I can get used to it, you know, if i really try. It's black and shiny, too. And has some amazingly cool (and odd) features -- when you back up, there's a screen that shows you what's behind you! So no more running over bikes, dogs, and kids, also, no more having to turn and crane, that's hard work, twisting the body so...heh. There's the mileage too, and the whole footprint thingy, apparantly this car emits 8000 lbs of bad stuff a year while my volvo emits 108,000 lbs a year.

I went right out and put my VEGAN sticker and my yarn and needles magnet on the bumper, now if I can just find a sticker that says "how's the weather down there?" Hahaha.

Congrats! re: Your birthday AND your new car! I have been pining for a Prius myself for a good while now, and will continue to do so until I can bear the thought of a car payment again. Until then, I will live vicariously through you...if you don't mind. ;)
